Polymerized Castor Oils (Up one level)
This non-drying castor polymer, commonly known as blown oil, has a viscosity of about 250 stokes as the result of oxidative and crosslink polymerization at the double bonds and hydroxyl groups. It has an improved ability to wet and disperse pigments while imparting solvent and abrasion resistance to lacquer systems. Pale 16 (Oxidized Castor Oil) can be used to plasticize a variety of resins in adhesive and sealant systems, inks and hot melts. This heavier viscosity polymerized oil can also be used as a processing aid and plasticizer for rubber polymers, imparting oil and solvent resistance.
